What is the plan for today?

I'll fix this blog to weed out all the spam like the message from "ts," whoever that is.

In response to C-Daddy, here are some ideas to stew on.

(1) Ask the business major in our family; the best way to generate money is to convince people they should buy something (so that they actually see something physical in return for their money) at a low cost. The old low cost/high volume business model. The Lance Armstrong bracelets, for instance, are genius. You can buy $10 worth, wear one, and give the rest to friends and family. You have something physical to wear. You didn't spend a lot of money. And you feel good because the profits from the bracelets go to a good cause. Of course we don't have a celebrity to promote our low cost/high volume idea yet, but when we get one, we can only hope that it will catch on like Lance's did. We could do "Families R.O.C." bracelets of course, but that's not very original. Anything else?? Let's put our creative wizardry to work here and think big.

(2) I think we need to draft a "Mission Statement." Someone may have already done that.

(3) I think the official web-site should have a link to a blog. It can be this blog or another blog. I don't care. I don't think the web-site itself should be a blog or have a blog on the main page. Too much clutter.

(4) We can generate revenue through corporate sponsorships. I talked with E about this yesterday. I'm going to hit Jones Day up for some cash. I'm also going to ask some of my clients, like Verizon. The idea is similar to the high cost/low volume idea, which is selling to these folks that giving is worth their while. One way to do that (duh -- I know you know this) is to sell to them that x number of people will be running in the White Rock, if you donate money, we'll stick your name on our t-shirt.

We also need to look into the Google AdSense program. It looks free and easy.

(4) I'd like to see a link to "News" on the web-site. The News can cover items like the Fashion Show Nana was in the other day, as well as general news stories regarding Ovarian Cancer research and fund-raising.

(5) Check out the "Teal We Meet Again" web-site, which I've set up as a link to my blog. That whole thing was started by a secretary in my firm, Tina Shobe, whose mom passed away from Ovarian Cancer a few years ago. She's very active in Ovarian Cancer awareness groups, etc. I'm going to talk to her to see if she has any ideas.
